Introduction

This article will provide a comprehensive walkthrough on using Studio Space for redaction. The article aims to guide you step-by-step through effectively employing the tool to redact sensitive information from your videos.  


Prerequisites

  • Ensure you have administrative or manager access to your VIDIZMO Portal.
  • Confirm that your package includes the redaction feature.
  • Verify that the VIDIZMO Indexer is configured and enabled in your portal for object detection and enhanced searchability.

Opening the Redaction Tool in Studio Space

  1. Navigate to the section within the VIDIZMO portal where your media files are stored. This section may be named "Media Library" or "Evidence Library."
  2. Browse through the list of media files and identify the specific one you want to redact. Click on the file to highlight it and activate the available options. 
  3. At the top, you'll find a header displaying various options. Look for the element labeled "Studio Space" and click it.


Note: To access Redaction or Studio Space, directly click on the overflow menu on the media file and select the relevant option to initiate your intended action.



Top Navigation in Redaction Tool


This section explains the top navigation menu in the Redaction Tool. Open the Studio Space and click on the gears icon in the Redaction tool to access the settings panel.


  • Configuring General Settings 

  1. Specify redaction types for audio and video content.
  2. Set Tracking Speed for redaction. The bounding box movement speed should be between 1 to 10.
  3. Enable the confidence filter to fine-tune redaction accuracy.



  • Configuring Detection Settings

Choose from various detection options, such as detecting all objects, faces, persons, weapons, or vehicles.

Select your preferred theme to customize the user interface.

 Learn the shortcut keys for various actions to streamline your workflow.



  • Updating Settings for Redaction

Click the update button after updating settings to ensure the best redaction capabilities.




Utilizing Auto Detection for Objects

  1. Click on the "Auto-Detection" button located in the header.



2. A new window labeled "Start Detection" will appear.

3. In this window, you can specify the start time and end time for the automatic object detection process.

4. Choose from various detection options, including:

  • Detecting all objects
  • Detecting faces
  • Detecting persons
  • Detecting weapons
  • Detecting vehicles

                Select the objects or categories you want to auto-detect.

5. Once you have selected, click on the "Start" button to initiate the automatic detection process.




Automatic Object Redaction

  1. The auto-detect feature will detect the selected objects.
  2. The objects that have been detected will be shown in the left panel section. You can choose to view them in either a Thumbnail or a List view.



3. To refine your object selections, you can use Object Filtering.



4. You can manually adjust confidence scores for objects by clicking the "Edit" button in the Object Filter, where you can add or decrease the values and then save the settings. 



5. Once you have identified the objects you want to redact, select them by clicking on the respective checkboxes. You can choose more than one object at a time.

6. After selecting the desired objects, click on the Redact icon. The detected objects will be redacted according to the redaction type you specified in the General Settings during the configuration.

7. Finally, you can publish the redacted file in the library by clicking on the Publish and Redact button. This will make the media file available with the selected objects redacted as per your chosen redaction type.



Manual Object Redaction

  1. To Draw objects manually, choose the object class from the top ribbon of Studio Space.
  2. Draw the bounding boxes on the object that you want to redact.
  3. Track your object in the video by either selecting it from the top ribbon of Studio Space or by accessing a context menu by right-clicking on objects. Tracked objects are marked with a green bounding box. 
  4. Stop tracking when your object is no longer visible.



5. The objects that have been drawn will be shown in the left panel section. You can edit or delete the object by clicking the overflow menu.

6. To hide the bounding boxes, click the eye icon located next to the overflow menu.

7. From the top ribbon menu, you have the option to redo or undo the drawing of bounding boxes.

8. To refine your object selections, you can use Object Filtering.

9. Once you have identified the objects you want to redact, select them by clicking the respective checkboxes. You can choose more than one object at a time.

10. After selecting the desired objects, click on the Redact icon. The detected objects will be redacted according to the redaction type specified in the General Settings during the configuration.

11. Finally, you can publish the redacted file in the library by clicking on the Publish and Redact button. The Workflow will be initiated. Once the workflow is completed, the media file will be available with the selected objects redacted as per your chosen redaction type.


 

Audio Redaction

To perform Audio Redaction in Studio Space, follow these steps:


1. Open the media file in Studio Space to begin the audio redaction process or select redact to open directly.




2. Utilize the Search bar to conveniently search for specific keywords within the Audio Transcript, which is displayed on the right panel for easy reference. You can change the Font Size of the Transcription by selecting the overflow menu to access additional options. Choose the font size to modify the transcription display. 

3. Enhance your workflow by enabling the toggle button, which synchronizes the transcription with the player, ensuring accurate and efficient redaction. 

4. Create precise Audio Segments by drawing segments directly on the audio waveform. Click on the Draw Segment icon and click anywhere on the waveform to establish a segment.

5. Customize the duration of the audio segment by conveniently dragging its edges, allowing you to precisely define the portions that need redaction. This provides a seamless audio redaction experience tailored to your requirements.

6. To create an audio segment from Transcription Pane. Select the checkbox of the transcription you want to redact.

7. The audio segment will be displayed on the left panel.

8. To Edit Audio Segments, adjust the start time and end time of the audio segment from the overflow menu.

9. Select the desired audio segment.

10. Click the "Redact" button to redact the audio.



11. Click the "Publish and Save" button to save the redacted file. The system will save a copy of the original file in the Library. Alternatively, you can also press the "Publish" button to save the audio redaction in the original file.
