Overview

VIDIZMO enables users to identify non-compliance with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in videos. This includes the detection of absent masks, protective hats, and hand covers, such as surgical gloves.

In this article, we'll look at how we utilize this feature in VIDIZMO. To learn more about its concept, refer to our understanding article "Detection of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in VIDIZMO."

Prerequisite

  • Make sure you have administrative or manager access to your VIDIZMO Portal to activate PPE Detection and configure related settings.
  • Verify that the AWS Indexer is configured and enabled in your portal for PPE detection.

Note:  Follow our step-by-step guide, "How to Configure Video Insights using Amazon Web Services (AWS)," to enable the powerful PPE capabilities of AWS Indexer in your portal.

Detecting PPE with Automatic Processing

To enable the automatic detection of personal protective equipment (PPE) while uploading videos on the portal, the first step involves configuring the AWS Indexer within the portal. Later, activate automatic processing in the AWS Indexer application. As a result, when a video is uploaded to the portal, it will automatically identify the individual without PPE in the video, and the detected information can be displayed during video playback on the playback page.

Detecting PPE using On-Demand Processing

If a media file has already been uploaded to the portal and the user wants to process it for PPE detection, they can follow these steps for processing.

1. Navigate to the designated media file where PPE detection is desired. Click on the overflow menu associated with the specific media file. From the overflow menu, choose the "Process" option.

2. In the modal that appears for the selected media file, enable the generation of AI insights by checking the designated checkbox.

3. Subsequently, a set of options will be presented. To specifically focus on PPE detection, navigate to the "Detection Type" field within the process modal. Utilize the drop-down menu and select "PPE" as the detection type. Note that other options are available for performing various AI activities.

4. Initiate the PPE detection process by clicking the "Start" option. This will commence the processing of the video with the objective of identifying personal protective equipment.

5. Check out the PPE detection results on the playback page. You can use the filter option from the AI insights tab on the playback page.

This filtering feature aids in efficiently pinpointing the type of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) that an individual may not be wearing. With a confidence score of 100, utilizing AWS API ensures a high level of certainty (50-100) that the system accurately identifies individuals not wearing the specified PPE.

Detecting PPE in VIDIZMO's Studio Space

The capability to identify Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) can also be executed within VIDIZMO's Studio Space.

Follow these steps to initiate the detection of personal protective equipment in the VIDIZMO using Studio Space.

1. Open the desired media file in Studio Space by accessing the option on the playback page header.

2. Once the media file is open in Studio Space, navigate to the toolbar in the header. Locate the "Auto Detect" option and select it

3. Choose the detection type by selecting "PPE" from the drop-down menu.

4. Click the "Start" button to commence the auto-detection process in Studio Space.

5. In Studio Space, individuals not wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) are identified as the bounding box is applied to the detected individuals during the auto-detection process.

6. Utilize the filters to refine your selection. Choose the filter option and select the specific criteria necessary for detecting individuals in the video.
