Introduction

Moving media content from one platform to another requires a meticulous process to copy or transfer assets properly. It's more than just clicking a button – there are crucial considerations beyond that, and these finer details can significantly ease the work for users who manage content.

Organizations seek a straightforward and seamless process to refine their workflows and shift between platforms for improved efficiency and enhanced features. This is where content ingestion comes into the spotlight. It facilitates a smooth transition, ensuring the process is simple and efficient for organizations looking to upgrade their systems.

As an industry leader, VIDIZMO presents a meticulously designed content ingestion feature that empowers users to import content from KALTURA, thereby enhancing content delivery effortlessly. In this article, we will delve into the process of VIDIZMO ingesting content from KALTURA.

Concept

Effective content management becomes crucial as more individuals utilize various tools for content creation and sharing. VIDIZMO addresses this challenge by introducing a groundbreaking ingestion feature. This feature enables users to effortlessly import content from Kaltura while retaining metadata, category hierarchies, sub-hierarchies, and content metadata files. Moreover, users can utilize transcoding features when configuring the Kaltura app for ingestion, offering flexibility in creating renditions based on VIDIZMO or Kaltura encoding profiles.VIDIZMO allows users to choose whether to ingest content, i.e., import files pre-transcoded by Kaltura or have VIDIZMO conduct transcoding during import. When enabled, renditions align with Kaltura's transcoding profile, seamlessly integrating content with its original specifications, akin to Kaltura's rendition. Otherwise, VIDIZMO uses its internal encoding profile for a personalized transcoding approach, allowing users to import content rendition based on their choice. This allows for greater flexibility and aligning content with specific quality requirements upon import.

How Does Content Get In VIDIZMO?

To facilitate the content ingestion process from Kaltura to VIDIZMO, users must configure the Kaltura app within VIDIZMO. This specially designed app streamlines the content ingestion process; configuring it is a prerequisite for initiating the ingestion procedure. To begin the configuration, users need a Partner ID, which is essential as it serves as the identification number for the Kaltura account from which content is intended to be ingested.

When configuring the Kaltura app in VIDIZMO, users are prompted to select between two crucial options for the Secret type setting: Administrator Secret or User Secret. This choice is contingent upon the specific secret type chosen. Opt for the User Secret for general API access, while the Administrator Secret grants comprehensive administrative control. Additionally, users must specify the "Secret Type" by choosing between Administrator Type or User Type, aligning with the role assigned to the Kaltura account. This meticulous selection ensures appropriate access and control levels based on the user's administrative responsibilities within the Kaltura framework.

During configuring the Kaltura app in VIDIZMO, users can choose whether to import transcoded files. This feature, labeled "Import Transcoded Files," offers flexibility in the content ingestion process. Enabling this option allows the transcoding of ingested files, resulting in renditions aligned with the Kaltura transcoding profile. Conversely, disabling it means that VIDIZMO will use its configured encoding profile for transcoding. In the VIDIZMO Transcoding Options, when transcoding is enabled during the configuration, renditions are generated according to VIDIZMO's encoding profile. This flexibility ensures that users can tailor the transcoding approach to their specific preferences and requirements.

To establish viewing access during the configuration of the Kaltura app in VIDIZMO, users can set the parameters for who can view the published content post-ingestion. It's important to note that the 'Only Me' option functions effectively when content privacy is enabled. Additionally, users need to input the User Email, representing the email associated with the Kaltura account from which content is being ingested.

Furthermore, during the configuration process, users are required to provide the Kaltura Instance domain, serving as the base URL to the Kaltura Server, indicating the location of the Kaltura website.

Understanding that this configuration process ensures seamless integration in VIDIZMO is crucial.

However, it's important to note that it is a one-time ingestion process. Any subsequent changes or updates to the content in Kaltura will not be automatically reflected in VIDIZMO. Users must be mindful of this limitation and plan for content ingestion accordingly.
