Introduction

VIDIZMO allows users to monitor your Portal’s resource consumption and set up alerts when a certain threshold has passed. To help users better manage their content storage, VIDIZMO now gives them the option to create content lifecycle policies according to their preferences.

Using this functionality, you create content policies for your Portal that can be executed automatically or manually at your discretion. These policies enable you to delete and purge content according to your preferences.

Content Policies

The content lifecycle management enables the creation of policies that can delete and purge content. In addition to managing your Portal’s storage, these policies can also provide a way for you to manage the flow of Portal content effectively.

For example, you can create a policy to automatically delete content after a certain period, and another to purge it after a specified number of days. This ensures that outdated or obsolete content doesn't take up valuable space.

        1. Soft Delete Policies

Users can create Soft Delete policies for their Portal content. Soft Delete policies delete the specified data from your Portal library and move it to the Recycle Bin, which acts as a retention area.

        2. Purge Policies

A Purge Policy permanently deletes the data present in the Recycle bin. A purge policy also only purges content that meets its defined content criteria after it has been present in the Recycle Bin according to the number of days specified in the "Days After Deletion" field.  When creating a Portal, a Default Purge Policy is present as part of the content lifecycle policy feature.

Policy Execution

You can configure policies for manual or automatic execution. Users can execute a manual policy with the click of a button, while automatic policies are run on the content that meets your criteria after a specified duration (which is set to 24 hours by default).

When you set a policy to automatic execution, VIDIZMO checks for content that meets the defined criteria and then carries out the policy action.

Locking to Prevent Policy Action

You can prevent any policy from acting on your files by setting them to a locked state. Locking ensures that you don’t purge, delete, or archive content that you don’t want modified. In VIDIZMO, you can selectively lock content that’s present in your Portal’s library. Another way to lock content is via the Preview screen when you’re creating or editing a content policy.

For a more in-depth look into locking and how to do it, refer to Use Lock in VIDIZMO to Restrict Content Policies.

Conclusion

Enhanced Content Lifecycle Management allows VIDIZMO users to manage their Portal storage more efficiently. Users can significantly reduce their storage consumption and costs by getting rid of obsolete content. They are also able to define the criteria for these policies according to their preferences.
